CONTUR - What´s that

steinert^® CONTUR^© is an easy to learn and use PC software for drawing and designing woodturning objects. With the easy to learn drawing tools the outline of an object can be drawn and creatively optimised. The photo realistic 3D-view shows a real impression of the object with a choice of over 500 domestic and exotic timbers. With the assembly tool of steinert^® CONTUR^© several single objects can be combined to each other. So even complex objects such as a smoking man (see picture below) can be created playfully. The single objects can be dimensioned and printed 1:1 to use the print as a template at the lathe. The draft can also be exported as CAD drawing (DXF format) and so can be used at CNC controlled lathes. The object gallery helps with little thumbnail pictures to find your finished work again.

 

steinert^® CONTUR^© can be learned easily without studying manuals. But the 60 page manual which comes with the software helps to become faster and more effective in using steinert^® CONTUR^©.

 

Let yourself inspire by the beauty and the variety of the more than 500 wood graphics and design bowls, vases, figures, pillars or any kind of rotation-symmetric object. The variety of possibilities even increases with the tool to dye the wood.

 

You can save, print, export as picture or dxf-drawing your object creatively designed with steinert^® CONTUR^© and of course exchange with other CONTUR users.

 

 

In the design mode the outline of the object can be drawn and designed intuitively with a variety of drawing functions. The photo realistic 3D-preview always shows a real impression of the object with a real wood surface. The wood surface can be chosen from the wood library.

The drawing can be dimensioned. The dxf interface enables to export the drawing into the CAD exchange format dxf to be used in any CAD software or directly for CNC controlled lathes.

 

 

3D-View
In the 3D-view mode you get a photo realistic full screen impression of your draft. The object can be rotated and zoomed on the screen. You surely will find the right wood to fit your idea amongst the over 500 domestic and exotic wood surfaces which additionally can be coloured. The 3D-view can be saved as picture too.

 

 

 

In the assembly mode single objects from different shape and different wood can be combined to each other to multi-centre objects. With that even complex figures such as e.g. a smoking man (see picture) and others can easily be created. With the rotate and move rulers shown in the picture the single objects can be moved to the right position. Alternatively the position or movement can be entered numerical.

 

 

Gallery
In the gallery little thumbnail picture of saved objects are shown to better find what you made before.

 

 

Print
There are a lot of different print options. The draft can be printed with or without wood surface, dimensions, reference lines etc. A 1:1 print could be used as a template on the lathe.
